Abstract
Against the backdrop of societal challenges and the hope that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help to address them, gifted and talented education is first theoretically classified and related to the concept of learning pathways. The optimisation of learning pathways is discussed comparatively in the context of human gifted education and in concepts of technology-enhanced learning. Data-driven, knowledge-based and hybrid AI models, as well as basic characteristics of generative AI, are then explained, and finally, possible applications of AI in gifted and talented education are discussed.
