Abstract
The article aims at inspiring practice by illustrating the journey of a secondary School participating in the initiative „Leistung macht Schule“ (LemaS) focusing on the role of ist head teacher in this process. In the first part of the article, we trace the school development in four stages based on the retrospective of the former head teacher. In the second part, the head teacher’sgical and leadership approach is further examined by framing it with central theoretical concepts of the LemaS research community. We will show how shared goals, values and pedagogical approaches are vital for a Lively school culture and highlight the role of leadership defined as inspiring and transformational in pedagogical settings. We will argue that inspiring teaching and leadership can be characterized by an ethical and common good-, as well as team- and person-oriented pedagogical approach.
