How can artificial intelligence be used to support gifted children in schools?

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the teaching and acquisition of knowledge. This article sheds light on the role of hybrid intelligence – the collaboration between humans and AI – in the promotion of gifted students at school. Due to the Matthew effect, particularly high-achieving pupils benefit disproportionately from AI-supported learning processes. Practical examples, including individual revolving door models, research-based learning and the development of complex tasks and cognitively activating learning settings, are used to illustrate how AI can be used specifically to support gifted learners. Reference is also made to specific materials that support teachers in practice.
