This paper focuses on the question, how the sociopolitical discourse about immigration can be understood as discourse about heterogeneity and which meaning this has for dealing with heterogeneity and homogenization within the field of education. The relation of politics and education will be emphasized, and it will be discussed how the discourse of heterogeneity and homogenization within the field of education reproduces the structures of social order. Against this background the meaning of heterogeneity and homogenization for educational research will be examined and the scientific reproduction of sociopolitical discourse on education, migration and heterogeneity will be reflected.
