Looking at the educational challenges in the Global South (and especially in Sub-Saharan Africa) the article shows the necessity to train leadership personnel in the educational sector and to allow for evidence-oriented governance. A possible solution how to deal with those challenges is the international Master’s program in continuous education „Educational Quality in Developing Countries“ of Otto-Friedrich-University, Bamberg/Germany. The master is presented, focusing on its contribution to promote educational quality and research capacity among emerging educational scholars in Sub-Saharan Africa.
