Abstract
Individuality can only experience itself as unique and special by being a member of different social groups. This comprehensive understanding of the membership perspective, in which the individual – mutually and existentially – becomes part of the other, is referred to here as mutuality. For social work, this normative concept opens up a relational understanding of the profession that enables a practice of helpful groups of professionals and recipients that transcends organizational or fieldrelated classifications. The point of reference is the joint creation of something new in a dialogical transformation and relationalization process of the professional action situation.
