Abstract
In the context of teacher training, internationalization at universities is associated with the expectation of contributing to dealing with global crises, to a change of perspective and thus to a professionalization in the sense of Global Citizenship Education (GCED). This article examines the current discourse on the internationalization of teacher training in the context of GCED and discusses the potential and challenges of international cooperation in Higher Education in the context of GCED against the backdrop of the Erasmus+ project Global Sense – Developing Global Sensitivity Among Student Teachers. The experiences in the project indicate that a reflection of questions of participation, empathy and solidarity is necessary in the entire project in order to make the aim of participatory GCED a reality.
