Abstract

This paper gives an overview of current school-related transnationalisation research. Considering existing systematic approaches on transnational (educational) spaces, three focal points are chosen: a) transnational everyday life in relation to the institution of school, b) (international) school concepts and school development processes in the migration society, and c) transnational policy discourses through cross-border control and exchange processes related to school and school systems. Current research on schools shows that, in addition to exclusive transnational educational arrangements, there are increasing analyses of marginalised lifeworlds of students and schools. On this basis, the paper argues for a systematic view on inequality in school-related transnationalisation research.
