Secondary Analyses Based on Official School Statistics

The current state of research on the school success of refugees in general education schools remains insufficient. Therefore, this article first outlines an operationalization of ‚refugees‘, followed by a secondary analysis of the school success of refugee compared to non-refugee students in federal states with a sufficient data basis. The analysis combines data from the Central Register of Foreigners (Ausländerzentralregister) with official school statistics. The findings indicate substantial disparities in school success overall, which also vary considerably across regions.
