Abstract
In the model project “ESD model schools in the Heidenheim educational region”, students, teachers and school management from five ESD model schools worked together on new, holistic approaches to implementing education for sustainable development (ESD) in their schools. The aim is to set up schools in such a way that students can develop comprehensive sustainability-oriented competencies, deal with the future with foresight, and participate in innovative life and social plans that make a forward-looking and responsible transition into a sustainable world possible. By now, all schools in Baden-Württemberg interested in ESD development can take part in an intensive, supervised training program offered by the “Zentrum für Schulqualität und Lehrerbildung” (ZSL).
