Abstract
The program “One Square Kilometer of Education” relies on small-scale, local educational networks to increase the educational opportunities of children and young people in social areas in which a disproportionate number of families are affected by poverty. Withthe help of a district-based support system, the so-called Pedagogical Workshop, actors from formal, non-formal and informal educational institutions determine key topics andjointly develop practical solutions tailored to local needs. The article presents the program’s approach, outlines developments in various programlocations, and concludes by summarizing findings on the program’s potential effects.
