Abstract

Mediatized everyday worlds increasingly form the framework for social action and thus change the conditions of empirical culture analytical research, which has to deal with different horizons of reality and their specific production principles. Ontologies of media are thus becoming an important factor of a cultural analysis that takes into account these changed conditions of the construction of reality and of cultural production. In addition, an understanding is needed of how aesthetics as well as social and economic conditions of cultural production change due to digitization andoccur alongside those of the analogue world, which in turn remediate under digital conditions. The author suggests an extension of practice theory to include media-theoretical, post-phenomenological, postcolonial and economic positions.
