This article is an attempt to harness the spatial theory of Martina Löw for the discussion and research in education science. It bases on the observation of contradictories between the ontologized usage of spatial heuristics (for example concerning the question of regional inequalities in education) and the current theories of space, which focus more on a constructivist perspective. Martinan Löw’s concept undertakes a theoretical connection between these contradictory positions, because now ‘local spaces of education’ can be observed both, concerning the structuring by space and the construction of space.
