Abstract

Pre-vocational education, as an instrument to introduce the participants to the world of work and prepare them to enter further vocational or technical programs during secondary education, takes varied forms in different parts of the world. This paper endeavors to investigate the education objectives and the guiding principles of pre-vocational education curricula. Through comparing the curricula in Germany and China the authors attempt to find some common development trends of pre-vocational education in the era of globalization. By doing content analysis the selected curricula in both countries are analyzed and grouped into different categories. Based on the comparison results some conclusions are drawn, concerning what the guiding principles in pre-vocational education in both countries are and what kinds of curriculum potentially function well.
