The article deals with the usage of feedback from school evaluation on a theoretical and empirical background. A description of the specific features of feedback within a school development programme is given first and then current research is reported on the issue of feedback usage and areas of constraint are defined. It is also stated that a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods is needed to get a full picture of the usage as process. Both methodological approaches are reflected in the presentation of descriptive and analytical results. Finally these results are discussed with respect to the theoretical background and thus the relevance of constraining factors inside and outside school is demonstrated.
