The School-In project was an in-service professional development (PD) program, which aimed at improving inclusion and scrutinizing the school’s academic results by taking the local context, structures of expectations and the school culture into account. It was an intervention project with a systemic approach using several methods and instruments that were developed specifically with the intentions of the study in mind. School-In was designed to work with the entire teaching staff, ensuring cross-disciplinary and cross-level impact. The project was financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR).

In this book, we present the project School-In and document research and intervention methods. It provides stakeholders, educational researchers and practitioners with information about the make-up of the study. With this book, School-In presents an example of how new ideas and knowledge can be gained from several research approaches and provides the readers with experiences and advices on how processes within educational development may be implemented.
