Haider, Hubert

Hubert Haider (geb. 1953) ist Professor für Allgemeine & Angewandte Sprachwissenschaft am FB Linguistik und dem Zentrum für Kognitive Neurowissenschaft der Universität Salzburg (Österreich). Davor (1987-1996) war er Professor für Germanistische Linguistik an der Universität Stuttgart und in dieser Funktion auch wesentlich im Bereich der Lehrerausbildung (Staatsexamina) tätig. Seine hauptsächlichen Forschungsfelder sind derzeit im Bereich Grammatiktheorie (Vergleichende Syntax,
Typologie) und der Neurokognition von Sprache angesiedelt, wobei Spracherwerb und Sprachvermittlung unmittelbare Anwendungsgebiete bilden.

Hubert Haider (born 1953) is Professor of Linguistics at the Dept. of Linguistics and the Center of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Salzburg (Austria) and member of the Doctoral College Imaging the Mind. Before (1987–1996), he was Professor of Germanic Linguistics at Stuttgart University and continuously involved in teacher education (Staatsexamen). Presently, his two major research areas are comparative theoretical syntax and neuro-cognition of language (and its fields of application, with
language learning & teaching as a prominent area).
