In 2015, the General Assembly of the UN endorsed the Agenda 2030, challenging not only the countries for achieving the sustainable development goals but also the evaluation practice of multi national and national organizations. This happens in a two folded way. Firstly, the responsibility for impact evaluations shifts from donor organizations to partner countries in the global south which are not yet well-positioned and equipped for such tasks. Secondly, the ambitious Agenda 2030 and the complexity of the sustainable development goals increase the conceptional and methodological claims for impact evaluations. Up to now, there are only some first attempts to meet these requirements and they can be hardly integrated into the existing monitoring and evaluation systems. This contribution offers an insight into current developments with regards to the three main challenges for system integration and transition as well as stakeholder inclusion and first trials to include these attempts into existing monitoring and evaluation systems.
