Abstract

School development consultancy (SDC) as a school support system gains in practical importance increasingly. Against this background, this article attempts to illuminate the field of SDC fundamentally with a view of introduction. Firstly, conceptual clarifications are conducted and the history and current public institutionalization of SDC in Germany are described. Subsequently, empirical fi ndings concerning the impact of the support system are outlined, before some perspectives of SDC are presented.
