Abstract

To what extent educational participation of underage refugees is facilitated, depends on two institutional factors: the migration political frame and asylum legislation on the one hand and the social selectivity of the school system on the other, the low-qualifying educational attainments of which contribute to a structural precarization of societal participation opportunities. On the basis of empirical data regarding local schooling strategies, the article reconstructs and discusses the multilevel-structured mechanisms of inclusion/exclusion of so-called “side-intrants”.
