In connection with the educational policy “aft er PISA”, a lot of actions were implemented to meet especially those needs of the German school system which have become evident at the learning efficiency surveys of the last years. These reforms do not only aim at changes in respect of content, curriculum, and methods of schools and teaching, but in many federal states also at a structural rebuilding of the school system. The purpose of the following paper is to give a survey about the structures of the general-education school system in the federal states. Current and scheduled structural reforms are included as far as they have been published up to the editorial deadline.
