Training and Further Education of School Principals in Austria
This article focuses on the current situation in training and continuous professional development for school principals in Austria. In this article, we will present the current laws and the compulsory programs for the profession of school principals. In order to provide an empirical overview of the current situation in the training and further education, this article also presents data from TALIS 2018. Furthermore, the “Leadership Academy”, which expired in 2018, will be presented, as it was probably one of the largest training initiatives for leaders in the education sector in Austria over many years with regard to individually selectable further training courses.
