Abstract

Research in Educational Governance is a branch of interdisciplinary research in education which studies how social order and performance is produced, maintained and transformed by coordinated action of a multitude of actors in complex multi-level education systems. The paper begins with describing the origin and development of the concept “governance” in social and political sciences and explains the central categories of this approach. Strategies and methods of educational governance research are discussed. Finally, open questions and potential options for further development of this approach are raised.
