This article analyzes the relationship between early childhood education opportunities and future academic success. It emanates from the topical discussion about preschool education. This discussion is dominated by the assumption that early childhood education support is one of the most important measures to avoid school failure and to compensate social disadvantages. The results show that early childhood education may contribute to academic achievement, but only under certain conditions.
