Abstract

In 2021, the Münster Mitte Municipal Comprehensive School (GEMM) was awarded the “German School Award” in the category “Enabling self-organized learning”. With individual learning plans, logbooks and learning offices, its concept of self-directed learning was transferred to the digital space during the lockdown phases of the pandemic period and further developed there. In this report, the school’s individualization and differentiation concept is outlined, before making the connection to self-directed learning with digital media and giving an insight into self-directed learning under pandemic conditions. The article closes with a short conclusion, taking a look at the potentials and challenges of self-directed learning with digital media, and an outlook on future developments.
