The Meaning of Space in Terms of Educational Theory
On the Atmospheric Effect of School Environments

Abstract
In an educational and phenomenological view school environments unfold emotional impressions. In its rootedness in situations, the architectural space contains atmospherically perceptible spaces of narrowness and expandedness. Spatial programs eventually communicate sensible qualities of being-with. Milieus of bodily communication constitute emotions, suggestions and performative events. Two examples illustrate the power of atmospheres as felt spaces.
