The Qualification of School Leaders in Germany: A National Overview
School leaders in Germany are a lot more than teachers with additional administrative tasks. They are expected to be managers, school developers, leaders, and in addition also administrators and teachers. How are they qualified for this position? What forms of qualification exist and how obligatory are they? How does this differ between the Federal States of Germany? This is analyzed in this contribution, based on an analysis of the relevant legal instructions and regulations.
