The contribution critically discusses the competence model of the ‚Orientierungsrahmen Globale Entwicklung‘. Based on a theoretical reflection upon the domain-specifity of global developement and the underlying theoretical understanding of action the contribution suggests to focus six compentencies, namely subject-specific knowledge, the ability to judge and to act politically, the competence of perspective adoption, abstract thinking and the ability to deal with uncertainty.
