Abstract

Trotz aller
Schwierigkeiten ein ermutigendes Beispiel.

Abstract:
The language is one of the main obstacles for literacy of Indios
in Latin America (LA). Throughout the whole world many children go to schools and learn in a language, which is not
their own. This is also major problem for development of identity. Indios in LA speak 500 different languages, but Spanish is normally the medium for teaching at schools, with the exception of Brasil, where Portuguese is the medium. Here is a report of bilingual, intercultural schools in LA. Despite many problems this is an example of an encouraging experiment.
