Abstract

With the article, embedded in the BNEprimus project, a seminar concept for “Education for sustainable development (ESD) in primary school” is described. It evaluates possible learning processes with the goal of professionalization among students in the teaching primary education (N = 76) with control group design by surveying pre- and post-concepts on sustainability or sustainable development. The pre- and post-concepts before and after seminar participation are collected in questionnaires with an open response format and evaluated and quantified using qualitative content analysis. Only the ESD group shows a more comprehensive and differentiated understanding of the terms after the seminar, from which initial indications of acquired scientific concepts and integrated professional knowledge can be derived.
