Abstract
The challenges posed by the demographic change must be systematically addressed in the school system. The article discusses the requirements that this entails for regional and local school authorities. It first describes the administrative and leadership tasks of school authorities in the school system. Two specific challenges of demographic change are then used to illustrate and systematize the various facets of these tasks.
