This book is particularly addressed to economists without a training in Health Economics and to physicians, nurses, and other health profes-sionals, without an economic training.

About the author

Maria do Rosário Giraldes is economist, Professor of Health Economics, at the National School of Public Health, New Lisbon University, Portugal. She has a post-graduation course in Health Planning at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA.
She has been a WHO consultant and a consultant in Portuguese speaking countries, mainly Cape Verde, Mozambique and Brazil. She has published 80 scientific works, books and articles, mainly on the themes Health and Development, Equity in Health and Health Care and Economic Evaluation of Health Care (Cost-Benefit and Cost-Utility Analysis).
